Dr Stefano Ratti is a medical doctor and Professor of Human Anatomy at the University of Bologna, where he works within the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences and contributes to research and training at the university’s Anatomical Center. His academic work focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms of rare diseases and the development of innovative medical technologies, including robotics, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence applied to human anatomy.
He is the founder and president of Graphic Medicine Italia, an organisation dedicated to advancing the use of comics in healthcare, medical education, and patient communication. Through interdisciplinary collaborations spanning medicine, sociology, and the arts, his projects explore how visual storytelling can humanise clinical knowledge and illuminate lived experiences of illness. Ratti has co-authored and curated several graphic-medicine publications and exhibitions centred on the narratives of patients and the social meaning of the body.
